'Beneath the Surface' is a family friendly play, written by the beloved Don & Lynn Stallings, Executive Director and Creative Director of the Atlanta Workshop Players. A tasteful display of musical direction through, international opera singer Mrs. Maria McDaniel Willathgamuwa and choreographer to the stars, Dacia James-Lewis, is sure to offer vocals and dance steps to keep your feet tapping and hands clapping. To make you think, open your heart, and mind; viewing life's challenges from a unique, 'full-view' perspective is the refreshing approach. The chaos of life can certainly introduce challenges, there is no doubting that fact. In this theatrical presentation; you will encounter just how a unique set of circumstances can catapult a group of high-schoolers into the depth of truth to deal with those daily challenges, with poise. This original play was written by Don & Lynn Stallings to depict real life experiences of middle school students, adapted for the extensive high school company participants. Over the years, the play has been presented in schools and is a great way to introduce important subject matter in a tasteful and delicate way, it's simply timeless and is guaranteed to empower, inspire, and edify the human spirit. The amazing and most refreshing thing to watch is how naturally each character is depicted, with fluidity, wholesome on-stage chemistry, and seamless passion. The 1-hour production flowed very well from beginning to end and offering a ton of moments to gasp, smile, and even shed a tear or two. In every human moment, its time to live, to dive 'beneath the surface'; pun intended. How appropriate, how fitting a title, bundled nicely with great family entertainment. Make the time to see a hometown favorite, at the home of the 'Barefoot Playhouse', Atlanta Workshop Players located at 8560 Holcomb Bridge Road (In the shopping mall next to the Goodwill, Woodcraft and Wells Fargo). 'Beneath the Surface', is one theatrical performance you simply WILL NOT want to miss!!!! Get there and don't be afraid to get inspired; you will be glad and your soul will be enriched. This play is great for kids, adults, and it's a great opportunity to bring your whole family out for fun.
